More News Just In...

Well. It's been fun, but tonight on the National Television Awards on ITV1, as we now call it, David Tennant announced that the 4 Specials in 2009 will be his last in the battered Converse Boots and Suit. It was fun though! Cheers Big Fella.

He'll have time to do loads of other good stuff instead though, so all is not lost. Are you very sad about it?

I admit I will miss his cheeky smile and moments of depth and affecting acting, but I hope we can have a rather older and less boyfriend material doctor next.

Any guesses for the next Dr, Gari?

Actually, I'm not that sad about it. It was always going to happen and it keeps the show fresh. Thing is I was a fan of Who from my childhood, and of David Tennant as an actor before Who. I'm glad it'll give him the opportunity to do other stuff. The usual rumours are going about about the New Who, Robert Carlyle, Patterson Joseph and David Morrissey are the front runners.

Don't think I'd like any of them particulalry, but you never know dod you? I have a yen for an older man (!) for Dr Who anyway. Who has been your favourite so far? From the past, I am a Tom Baker fan myself.

I wonder if Richard E Grant is free, l think he'd make an excellent doctor or Rufus Sewell, but I think he's a bit too po faced really, he'd have been a better Bond.

Funnily enough, before the series returned to tv, Richard E Grant was the official 9th Doctor. He was used by the BBC on webcasts, they can still be found on the offical BBC site.
I'd like him to have the oppprtunity as a proper tv Who too.
I just hope they don't go for someone too young and heart-throbby. Just as long as they can act. I loved Tom baker, and if he'd left 2 or 3 years earlier, I'd say he was my favourite too, but he hung on just too long for me.
I quite like the idea of Ken Stott...

I thought REG had been involved somewhere along the line, a return would be good. Wasn't Paul McGann the 8th Doctor for some stupidly short amount of time too?

I've not seen Ken Stott, but having just looked on the internet he appears to be a possibility. We'll see won't we?

I still reckon Bernard Cribbins if he's well enough... ;-)

Bernard Cribbens. He was a lovely addition to the cast this year wasn't he? He reminds me very much of my Dad.
Paul McGann was The tv Doctor for less than 80 minutes.
Have you seen his episode?

Yes we did see the Paul McGann episode as it was back in the days when we never thought Dr Who would return and we were very excited about it, but not quite as impressed as we hoped to be. Be interested to see it again though, he has some charisma, but was cold if I remember.

I believe Mr Cribbins auditioned for the Doctor and wasn't he in the film with Peter Cushing? (who doesn't count as a doctor, I know).

WIll be interesting
